Is tie nessesary?

Nowadays I go to the office everyday. Then I often see people wearing tie these days. I don't like to wear the tie because wearing tie is painful. I don't feel wearing tie is nessesary. 

In the first place, tie is the way to dress up around neck. Certainly when I tie, I'm looked formal, and I get excited to work. On the other hand it's so disturb to work. If we don't tie, it's not effect to our performance. So I have thought it's not nessesary. 

Of course we have to tailot to clients because we consultant is service man. Do you think which is nessesary to tie or not?
